Our skincare needs are always changing, from season to season and throughout our life. During the menopause, everything from hot flushes to changes in hormone levels can affect the skin so it’s important to adjust your routine depending on your skin’s needs.
Hormone changes during the menopause can cause changes to the condition of the skin, some women will find their skin more dry, while others may see acne again for the first time in years. My skin for instance became very dull looking and lacked lustre, this is because the naturally occurring oil in the skin that gives it its luminosity breaks down when the lipid barrier is comprised, leading to dreary, dull skin. The melanin cells are also in reduction and so, as well as the skin dulling, you will get the formation of sunspots and dark spots, I have one on my cheek I hate (thanks to my Boost device its reducing in size and colour) It;s so important to keep up with your SPF because the melonin is in slow production.
So my top tip is…..”Hyaluronic acid” which is the magic ingredient which holds a staggering 1,000 times its own weight in water. It draws in moisture so is perfect for really hydrating the skin, giving a youthful glow. It can often be found in everything from serums to moisturisers. NuSkin do a whole range of products containing Hyaluronic Acid which I always highly recommend to my customers so if you don’t have any in your routine yet send me a message and I will be happy to discuss with you.
The NuSkin 180* Resurfacing Peel Pads are great for stripping away those dull and dead layers of the skin – keeping the complexion fresh and bright.
Lack of elasticity and reduction in skin thickness, due to changes in collagen levels, cause the skin to appear more wrinkled and sagging as well as a reduction of the natural oils, the supporting fat below the skin is reduced which causes sagging and slackening. Often, women notice a hollowing in their cheeks because of this as that underlying connective tissues starts to deplete, the collagen and elastin production reduces and that’s when you’ll start to see hollowing and vertical lines.
How To Reverse This?
It’s simple by cleansing every day with the award winning Award AgeLoc LumiSpa……With its oscillating head, the Lumispa opens and closes the pores, removing dead skin cells, blackheads and reduces the appearance of large pores. Its movement also helps massage and de-stress the face, which promotes an increase in collagen production and skin renewal. Therefore our skin is ageing backwards producing younger, healthier, glowing skin. I always have deals on the LumiSpa so if you don’t own one yet please message me for details.
Remeber I mentioned to you the magic ingredient Hyalauronic Acid well my next highly recommended product is the AgeLoc Boost used immediately after your LumiSpa cleanse.
The ageLOC Boost device sends charged-balanced, intermittent, restorative pulses to the skin eight times per second. When used with the Activating Treatment or Activating Serum which contains Hyalauronic Acid, this microcurrent optimizes and activates the skin to achieve a more glowing, plumper, firmer and youthful complexion. I absolutely swear by these two devices and at age 55 myself my skin is better now than in my mid 30’s.
Therefore the outcome of this is to only use products that reinforce the architecture of the skin, redefining the contours of the skin by helping to reduce heaviness and strengthening the collagen and elastin structure which the LumiSpa and the Boost do so well.
